"Exploring the Glamorous Side of Mexico City: A Three-Day Itinerary for Real Housewives of Miami Fans"

Updated: Mar 17

Welcome to Mexico City, the scene of the Real Housewives of Miami’s season 7 cast trip. They participated in the usual antics; fighting, making up, partying, and dinner served by half naked men. Relive the trip with this four day itinerary to Mexico City.

Mexico City is a bustling metropolis with a rich history that dates back to the Aztecs in 1325. Legend has it that an Aztec leader priest, Tenoch, dreamed the god Huitzilopochtli instructed them that an eagle with a snake in its beak, perched on a prickly pear cactus would mark the sacred site they should settle. This vision materialized on a small island along the western edge of Lake Texcoco, and in 1325 they founded Tenochtitlán. The sacred symbol became permanent in history as the emblem for their city and now graces the coat of arms and the Mexican national flag. With a population of 22 million people Mexico has a lot to offer and many neighborhoods to explore.

Sleep like a Housewife: Mondrian Condesa

While visiting you’ll stay at the colorful Mondrian Condesa. The hotel is perfectly nestled between two must-explore neighborhoods, La Condesa and Roma Sud, making it a great home base for your trip. Be captivated by the vibrant energy of the local culture that inspires the hotel’s design and vibe. The rooms feel playful with yellow accents and bold artwork yet relaxing with luxurious bedding and spacious bathrooms. The Penthouse has an expansive terrace with breathtaking views of the city and a private bar to relax with your friends and let loose. The hotel is centrally located between two must-visit neighborhoods.

This hotel is moderately priced with standard rooms around $200/night, perfect for a SUR server budget. Upgrade to the Condesa Suite at $500/night if you have Housewife standards.

Travel like a Housewife

Day 1: Arrival at Mondrian Condesa

Flights to Mexico City are available at every major international airport in the United States. Check out Skyscanner to track the best prices and days to fly.

After settling into your luxurious Condesa Penthouse Suite (Alexia’s room) and taking in the stunning panoramic vistas, head downstairs to explore the vibrant streets of Condesa. For dinner walk to Merotoro to savor authentic Mexican flavors with a modern twist. Make sure to order the ceviche and bone marrow risotto. End the night in your suite with a private bartender mixing up cockies.

Day 2: "I'm on a Gondola!"

Rise and shine to a scrumptious breakfast spread in the comfort of your penthouse, fueling up for a day of exploration. Your first adventure is in the historic heart of Mexico City as you make your way to the majestic Catedral Metropolitana. Admire the intricate architecture and delve into centuries of history as you explore this iconic landmark, a true symbol of the city's grandeur.

In the afternoon, venture south to Xochimilco for a quintessential Mexican experience – a gondola ride along the picturesque canals. Cruise past floating gardens and vibrant trajineras adorned with colorful flowers, soaking in the lively atmosphere and enjoying traditional music and drinks along the way. Stop if you dare at La Isla de las Muñecas (Island of the Dolls), a hauntingly eerie island adorned with hundreds of dolls hanging from trees, each with its own mysterious story. Enjoy the gondola ride with drinks with your friends and if you’re feeling frisky you can kiss all your friends like Julia does. Hopefully your gondola trip is not filled with shouting matches like Lisa and Kiki.

If you make it off the gondola in one piece, head back to the hotel and have your glam squad prep you for dinner. Immerse yourself in Mexican culture with a private dinner at an art gallery. The housewives visited the Rygard Studio where half-naked buff men with six packs served the ladies dinner while they admired the paintings by Ricardo Garduno.

Day 3: Obligatory Shopping Excursion and Pride Festivities

On your final full day in Mexico City, treat yourself to a leisurely morning exploring the charming neighborhood of Coyacan. The RHOM ladies shopped at Mi Mercado Coyacan, a bustling market brimming with artisanal crafts, local delicacies, and unique souvenirs. From handcrafted textiles to traditional ceramics, you'll find the perfect treasures to bring a piece of Mexico City home with you.

If you are lucky enough to take this trip on June 29, 2024 you’ll be able to join in the fun for the Pride festival, where Adriana performed her song Fyah. There is nothing better than celebrating love with beautiful, gay men. Any other weekend, head to Zona Rosa to party in the gayborhood. Have dinner at Blanco Colima where the housewives tasted tequila and Larsa presented her new Tequila line. Keep the night going with karaoke and Drag Queens at Kinky Bar. Make amazing memories meeting new friends to finish out your trip.
